Our Consumer Privacy Notice

The Centreville National Bank of Maryland understands that the basis for every customer relationship is trust.  Over our long history of providing financial services to the community we have placed the highest value on the personal information you share with us, and we are committed to protecting your privacy.  Our privacy standards allow us to protect your privacy and offer you the financial products and services you need.  Our Privacy Notice tells you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information.
 
This notice applies to consumers who obtain financial products or services for personal, family, or household purposes.  The examples you will find in this notice are for purposes of illustration and should not be considered a complete description. 
 
 
Why We Collect Information
 
We collect information about you for three important reasons:
  • To identify you when you are conducting financial transactions with us;
  • To prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access to your personal financial information; and,
  • To offer you services that help you achieve your financial goals.
 
Information We May Collect
 
We may collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:
  • Information we receive from you on applications, personal financial statements, and other oral, written, or electronic communications, such as your name, address, social security number, assets, and income.
  • Information about your transactions with us, other members of the Shore Bancshares, Inc. family of companies (“Affiliates”), or others.  This includes your account type, account balance, parties to transactions, activity, and payment history.
  • Information we receive from third parties such as consumer reporting agencies and others to verify your employment or credit history, and other transaction relationships.
  • Information collected from our Internet website and services such as information you provide to us and information necessary to manage your online session with us.
Nonpublic personal information means information that we collect in connection with providing a financial product or service to you.  Nonpublic personal information does not include information that is available from public sources, such as telephone directories or government records.
 
 
Information We May Share
 
We do not disclose nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone except as necessary to provide services to you or as otherwise permitted by law.  We do not disclose nonpublic personal information to non-affiliated third parties for their independent use.  We may share the information we collect, as described above, to:
  • Non-affiliated third parties as permitted by law such as data processors, check printers, internet banking service providers, and government entities.
  • Companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.    
  • Our affiliates for the purpose of offering you additional financial services such as insurance, investment, and loan products.  You may tell us not to share this information with our affiliates.
 
Your Right to Limit the Sharing of Information
 
You may notify us by any of the following methods if you do not want us to share nonpublic personal information about you (other than as permitted by law) with other members of the Shore Bancshares, Inc. family of companies for their marketing purposes.  If you opt out (ask us not to share this information) you may miss learning of financial products and services offered by our affiliates that might be of benefit to you.

We apply any opt out request at the account ownership level and not by individual customer.  Therefore, if one owner of a joint account opts out then all owners of the account will have opted out.  A request to opt out is continuous until revoked in writing.  
 
 
Confidentiality and Security
 
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information in order to provide products or services to you.  Our employees are bound by our policies, Code of Ethics, and Code of Business Conduct to access your information only for legitimate business purposes and to keep your information confidential.  We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to secure your personal information.
 
To the extent we possess any medical information, it will be held in confidence and will not be shared with anyone except to process transactions or to provide services you have requested or initiated.
 
 
Website Privacy Guidelines
 
We will not capture a consumer’s name, address, including e-mail address, or nonpublic personal information about a consumer when the customer visits our website at www.cnbmd.com.   We may capture data on an anonymous, aggregate basis, such as: a user’s Internet service provider (such as aol.com if connecting from an America Online account), a user’s browser, when a website referred a user to the Bank’s website and the date and time in which the website was visited. We may track our website activity to help improve the content of our website. The only nonpublic personal information that may be collected is information a consumer provides through a customer initiated online activity (for instance, e-mail sent by the consumer or through use of Internet Banking).

 
Annual Notice
 
Federal regulations require us to provide this notice annually to all consumer customers who have a continuing relationship with us.  Although the notice is provided annually a request to opt out is continuous until revoked in writing.   If you share your account ownership with someone else, such as a co-borrower or joint account holder, you should share our privacy information with them to ensure that each of you are aware of our policy and your options. 
 
Our Privacy Notice may be amended from time to time.  We will notify you of such changes as required by law.
